Announcing Personal Letter Writing Pages!

A new way to share the joy of letter writing with your community this election cycle.

Writing letters to voters with Vote Forward is a fun and effective way to help drive voter turnout. You know what’s even more fun and effective? Writing letters with your family, friends, and neighbors!

That’s why we’re launching a new feature on the Vote Forward website: personal letter writing pages.

The benefits of personal letter writing pages

A personal letter writing page is like a crowdfunding page – but for letters to voters.

After you set up your page, you will be able to:

  • Set a letter writing goal for the 2024 cycle (any letters adopted during 2024 will be applied to your goal – so let’s capture all your great work this year!)

  • Assemble a “Letter Crew” of people you know who want to team up and contribute to your goal.

  • Easily introduce others to how rewarding writing Vote Forward letters can be.

  • Create a shared sense of achievement once you and your letter crew reach your goal.

  • Help us reach our overall goal of 10 million letters written!

Who is this for?

Anyone can write letters together – whether your goal is 100 letters or in the thousands! This tool is a particularly great fit for existing groups in your life such as book clubs, community groups, or your political text thread.

** If you're an organization looking to partner with Vote Forward, please check out votefwd.org/partners!

How to get started

It only takes a few minutes to set up your goal page: simply choose your letter writing goal and the custom url you’d like to assign to your page. Our team will then review your page just to make sure that it complies with our guidelines, and you’ll get a response back within 48 hours letting you know whether you can start sharing your page.

Our guidelines require that custom Urls do not:

  1. Use inappropriate or hate language (e.g. profanity)

  2. Mention a candidate or political party by name

Other than that, feel free to be creative! This is how your page will be identified publicly, so good options might refer to your name or the name of a group of people you plan to send the page out to, such as “best-book-club-writes.”

How do I share my page?

We encourage you to share your page the way you’d normally share anything you find interesting, funny or useful, including via email or text, or by posting it on social media.

Things to know

We’ll answer a few FAQs here:

  1. I’ve already been writing letters this election cycle. Can I count them toward my goal? What about people I’ve been writing with?

    1. YES! Because we are releasing this feature in the fall, any letters you have adopted this calendar year will count towards your goal, as will those of anyone who accepts the invitation to join your page. Now is the time to capture all the great work you and your letter crew did this year.

  2. Why would my page request get rejected?

    1. Your page request would only get rejected if the url you entered did not fit within our brand guidelines. Urls cannot use inappropriate or hate language (e.g. profanity) or mention a candidate or political party by name.

  3. Does anything happen if my letter crew doesn’t meet its goal?

    1. No. Just do your best!

  4. What if I send my page to someone who is already writing letters?

    1. Existing Vote Forward users can join your page by logging in with their existing log-in credentials.

    2. They will still be able to continue writing letters as they are now.

    3. Letters can be counted towards multiple page goals.

  5. How do I get someone to join my page?

    1. After someone clicks on your page, they will have the option to either sign up for Vote Forward for the first time or log in if they are an existing user.

    2. If they take either action, they will automatically be associated with your page and any letters they write will count toward your goal. They don’t need to do anything else!

  6. Can I see who’s joined my page?

    1. Yes. If you visit your page while logged in, you will be able to see who has joined your page and how many letters they have adopted.

    2. If you would like to follow up with those who have joined the page, follow these steps:

      1. Visit the goal set-up page while logged in, where you will see a list of any pages you started yourself or have joined.

      2. Click on Manage Page for the page you’re interested in. In the next screen, you will be able to find the email addresses for everyone who has joined your page (see image above for reference).

  7. Which letter writing campaign will those who join my page be a part of?

    1. They will select their own letter writing campaign. At this time, you cannot select this for them.

  8. What if I still have questions?

    1. Please contact us at help@votefwd.org.

Ok, you got all that? Time to build your page!
