The Big Send is back

The biggest electoral letter writing program of the year—The Big Send—is back! Vote Forward is rallying a grassroots coalition of volunteers and organizations across the country to send 10 million handwritten letters to voters encouraging them to vote in the midterms this November.

Since 2017, Vote Forward volunteers have sent millions of letters to voters encouraging them to vote in critical elections. In particular, letters are sent to historically underrepresented communities such as Black, Asian, Latino, and Native Americans communities. Writing letters is easy, fun, and effective, and a great way for anyone who wants to help increase midterm voter turnout to get involved.

Vote Forward letters are among the most high-impact voter turnout programs measured in recent elections. While other get-out-the-vote methods require venues, transportation, staff, and more, letter writing is streamlined and efficient, making it a cost-effective way to turnout voters.

In 2020, The Big Send turned out 126,000 additional voters in the general election. In states decided by razor-thin margins like Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, this increase is enough to change the outcome of close elections. Getting people to vote in midterm elections can be hard, but there’s so much at stake—control of Congress, governorships, and state legislatures. Increasing turnout in November is critical.

Democracy functions best when everyone participates. With a group of friends or volunteers, or on your own, you can write letters to voters in key congressional districts and states, help turn them out in November, and help strengthen our democracy. Go to The Big Send to get started today. Happy letter writing!
